Never get blocked from a Game Again
Do you have Reshade installed to make the graphics on your games look spectacular? Don’t worry! We do, too, and it’s fantastic!
Reshade makes your pictures look off the charts, and we are here for it. If your friends are coming over to play, they will be amazed by how insane your graphics look.
However, did you know that some games block Reshade? Say what? Before you get outraged, we’ll go through the steps you need to take to uninstall it to play certain games.
What is Reshade?
If you’re unfamiliar with Reshade, let us enlighten you a bit first. Reshade is a software plug-in that gives the user access to enhance the graphics on games.
Once you have installed Reshade, adjust lighting, shadows, textures, and sharpness for the ultimate gaming experience. It’s amazing what a little Reshade can do to make a game appear more crisp and lifelike.
Reshade sounds great! Why uninstall it?
While Reshade makes your gaming experience more crisp and enjoyable because of the excellent graphics, it also offers some cheats in certain games like PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Background).
If you cheat, then no one is going to want to play with you. It’s what our moms always told us, and they were right.
In this case, the developers are catching on to Reshape’s ability to cheat in certain games, and they are banning it from being used.
Certain games are not as excited about Reshape as we are. Because of that, Reshape must be uninstalled before you can enter the online game. In addition to that, Reshape takes up a lot of your computer’s resources and can cause it to run slower, especially if you are running on a lower-end PC.
How do I Uninstall Reshade?
The good news is you can uninstall Reshade from a specific game. In some instances, the game also needs to be deleted and reinstalled once you uninstall Reshape, but not always.
Let’s say you have Reshade installed on PUBG, and it won’t let you play. Here are the steps to uninstall it.
- Go to the game directory where PUBG is installed. Steam\SteamApps\common\PUBG\TslGame\Binaries\Win64\
- Next, delete the following items.
- Reshade-shaders (directory)
- Both .ini (files)
- All related dxgi (files)
- Finally, open the game again to ensure that Reshape doesn’t start up when the game begins.
Depending on which graphics API you selected when you installed Reshade will depend on what filenames you will see to delete. Below are some other examples of filenames you may see that would need to be deleted to uninstall Reshade.
- d3d8.dll & d3d8.ini
- d3d9.dll & d3d9.ini
- dxgi.dll & dxgi.ini
- opengl32.dll & opengl32.ini
Regardless of the game, Reshade can be uninstalled quite easily. Games like Xplane, Sims 4, and GTA 5 (Grand Theft Auto) can all have Reshade uninstalled before playing by navigating to the correct game directory and then following the steps we laid out earlier.
The only difference being the game directory that you navigate to first. We know you are losing some excellent graphics, but it’s better than not playing at all, right?
